Details
Inspired by 1/4 zip sweatshirts from the 30's-50's, the St. Denis Hotel 1/4 zip is cut from 15oz loopback cotton french terry and 1x1 rib. This high quality fabric was sourced from mills in Japan with a rich history dating back to the mid 19th century. The weight is perfect; not too heavy or too light, making it an ideal piece for year round wear. To pay tribute to true vintage, our cuff and hem ribbing is cut at 3" high. It features a substantial spread collar and brass riri zipper in a silver finish. All seams are finished with merrow edge overlock and double needle coverstitching, to ensure long lasting wear and durability. the interior of the collar is bound with twill tape to prevent the neck from warping. Not one detail of this piece was overlooked. This quarter zip pulls inspiration from vintage collegiate sweatshirts, often featuring emblems associated with their majors, programs, or location. We took a similar approach by designing our crest around a historic building that one of our team members grandparents lived out of. The building's design felt very reminiscent of 1920's hotels, with ornamental details and charm. We adapted the narrative that this sweatshirt may have been a hotel uniform that was heavily worn in over the years, developing a sun fade similar to that of french workwear of that era.
